We are in need of a small number of moderators, ideally around five. If you're interested in applying to be a moderator, please read the information below.
EXPECTATIONS
Behavior - Moderators are expected to follow the forum rules even more closely than standard users and should behave in a friendly, helpful manner. Staff members should act as role models, not use their status as an excuse to put people down or ignore the rules.
Objectivity - Moderators must be mature enough to handle situations objectively. Treat a friend the same way you would a stranger when it comes to moderating - no favoritism.
Activity - As the administrator, I will help moderate the boards as much as possible, but I can't be here all the time - which is why we need moderators in the first place. You're not expected to be around 24/7, but you need to be willing and able to dedicate a portion of your free time to the boards. Try to be around as often as you can.
Patience - Moderators should be patient with other users. Don't respond rudely if someone has a question or doesn't seem to understand something! This also applies to rulebreakers - it doesn't matter what's going on, you should always do your best to keep your temper under control. Take a short break from the computer or ask another moderator to handle the situation if you have to.
Communication - There should be a great deal of communication between staff members. There is a hidden staff-only board; please use this to discuss a situation or ask for advice if you're unsure what to do. If you're not clear on how to handle something it's much preferred that you discuss it with the other staff members rather than jumping in on your own.
REQUIREMENTS
Age - It is preferred that all staff members be at least 13 years of age. We will not turn down applications simply because of age, but it will be taken into consideration. All candidates are welcome, so feel free to apply regardless.
Experience - It's not required that you have past experience with running or moderating a forum, but it would be ideal if you did.
History - While it entirely depends on the individual situation, users with a history of rulebreaking or rudeness will be less likely to be selected.
